Our Company
Jack Goodnight, a Kannapolis native, started G & S Metal Co. in 1959. Jack's outside passion was
rebuilding and flying vintage piper cubs. The same care required to rebuild a plane that will fly was exhibited in the installation
of heating and cooling systems. Jack chose to have our custom metal fabrication shop make all our duct systems rather than
using less expensive and less durable materials. The metal in G & S Metal Co. comes from that
decision and continues today.
Over the years G & S grew by providing quality brand name equipment such as York, Goodman and
ThermoPride with custom designed duct systems. Pride in installation has always been coupled with service to ensure your comfort
is #1.
"You have to get better each day to be judged equal to yesterday" is the operational guideline practiced since
1994 when Chuck Ortlam purchased G & S Metal. Building on the G & S reputation of quality and service is a challenge
and a goal. We continue to be committed to retain the best people, practices and old-fashioned values together with constantly
seeking ways to improve.
We are excited about the opportunity to show how the G & S blend of old-fashioned values
and modern practices can meet your needs. Taking our business to the web makes the process even more exciting
